Outreach Events

We always need talented volunteers to reach out to people who cannot visit Piedmont Wildlife Center or haven’t heard about us. Please use the following forms to learn more about upcoming events and to volunteer to help with animal presentation, public relations, event design, set construction, IT, and more.

PWC hosts three big events every year, and also participates in events hosted by other local organizations. Check out the PWC Events page to get more information about these special events.

Outreach Training:
What do I do, and what do I say to people? See Outreach Procedures for an overview of  event setup and takedown, and animal handling procedures.

***There are several upcoming Outreach Training classes (1 hour) for anyone interested in volunteering at these events. We will go over what to talk about, how to answer questions, how to set up and take down the booth and tent, and how to handle education animals. You are required to attend one of these training dates before volunteering at an event.***

Sign Up:
If you’re interested in volunteering at any of these outreach events, you can fill out the volunteer registration form and check off either or both of the “Education/Events/Outreach” fields (one is for handling live animals, the other for interacting with people). Submitting this form will put you on an email contact list, and we’ll use this list to let you know when and how you can volunteer.

If you’re already registered, you can sign up for a shift (or several!) at any of these events. *Note: You can still sign up for a shift if you haven’t yet done the training, but you will need to attend training before the event itself.

Enormous thanks to all our new and long-time dedicated volunteers!
